ProPhotonix launches compact UV LED curing system

ProPhotonix has developed Cobra Cure Mini, a compact, low weight, UV LED curing system that delivers up to 6W/sq cm or 9J/sq cm from an ultra-compact light head.

ProPhotonix launches compact UV LED curing system

ProPhotonix is a designer and manufacturer of LED illumination systems and laser diode modules.

Cobra Cure Mini is applicable for UV curing of inks, coatings and adhesives, as well as 3D printing applications. Cobra Cure Mini is designed to work with both high-speed single- and multi-pass printers where installation space is restricted and weight is a concern. It delivers intensities up to 6W/sq cm and a factory set dose of up to 9J/sq cm at 2mm across an illumination area of 36 x 13.5mm.

Designed to maximize intensity and dose within a compact, light form factor, Cobra Cure Mini offers the high performance of its Cobra Cure FX1 product in a more compact package. The light head measures just 33.4 x 57 x 30mm, with control electronics housed separately to achieve a compact light head module. Weighing less than 175g, the light head is suitable for compact translation systems, said to provide ease of installation without any compromise on performance.

With Cobra Cure Mini, ProPhotonix stated that it has utilized its expertise in chip-on-noard LED array design and mechanical engineering to deliver, ‘the optimum solution for applications where space and weight are restricted but higher intensity and dose levels are required.’

Ken Reynolds, business and technology manager at ProPhotonix, said: ‘The Cobra Cure Mini provides users with the flexibility to suit their application needs in terms of available footprint, weight restrictions and budget targets without sacrificing performance. Space is critical in many applications and heavier products can require increased infrastructure and potentially limit system speed. Cobra Cure Mini provides an ideal solution for these types of applications.’
