The ink manufacturers’ live color matching demos will showcase the new digital color assortment for the next evolution of its PureTone food packaging compliant (FPC) inks and, for the first time at a Labelexpo show, its PureAqua water-based flexo ink system. Complementing this on Pulse Roll Label Products’ stand, GMG will use GMG OpenColor to show how to use CxF measurement data demonstrating that digital proofing can accurately match flexo prints including brand and spot colors. Digitally printed proofs on the Epson SureColor 5000 will be compared against UV flexo or water-based flexo drawdowns to show consistent color across all printing technologies. Visitors to the Pulse Roll Label Products stand will see how color can be accurately replicated from one print process to another as part of a closed loop color management process.

Mikaela Harding, product manager at Pulse Roll Label Products, said: ‘We’ve been talking about the value of digital color management for years now, and it was a key element of our total color management solution when we first launched our PureTone UV flexo ink system at Labelexpo back in 2015. With more and more printers investing in digital printing to complement their existing flexo printing business, there is also a need to ensure that brand colors are consistent irrespective of the printing process. By matching digital devices to flexo presses, short runs can be completed on digital presses, with mid-longer runs using the flexographic process, ensuring an accurate color match across the different technologies, wherever you are in the world. We’re excited to be teaming up with GMG Color for this year’s show and to be presenting a closed loop color management approach that ensures print matches proof every time.’

Johannes Betz, head of marketing and academy at GMG Color, said: ‘Both our companies have a shared passion for color, so we are delighted to collaborate with Pulse Roll Label Products at Labelexpo Europe 2019. As the world’s leading solution to provide accurate simulation of the overprinting effects of spot colors, GMG OpenColor profiles allow designers and pre-press companies to simulate different color combinations and production variables upfront without having to go on press to check the results. GMG OpenColor ensures absolute stability and reliability in color communication whether its digital, offset, gravure or flexo. Our technical representative will be working with the Pulse Roll Label Products’ team at Labelexpo to demonstrate how, in combination with its inks, converters can benefit from greater flexibility and enhanced efficiencies by using brands’ spectral data in artwork to set the correct expectation when the job is printed and measured.’

Both Mikaela and Johannes will also present on complementary color topics during the Inks, Coatings and Varnishes Workshop on Friday, September 27, 2019 at Labelexpo Europe. Betz will give a lecture on ‘Digital Color Communication - from the ink kitchen to the customer’, and Harding will talk about ‘Digital Color Control and Ink Management’.

Pulse Roll Label Products will exhibit on stand 3C64 and GMG will exhibit on stand 6A22 at Labelexpo Europe 2019.
