UK-based Thermal Transfer Solutions (TTS) has launched an improved near-edge line of thermal transfer ribbons featuring a darker, faster and sharper print with a higher degree of durability.

The company developed an improved version of its popular NEX10 as a single grade that can cover all wax resin applications and is designed to print onto a variety of label materials and packaging films from rough medical papers, varnished labels all the way up to the glossy packaging films. It prints at a low temperature and utilizes an easy release layer, allowing for higher print speeds.

‘After 3 years of research and development, we are very excited to launch our new improved next generation range of near edge ribbon grades, which are now able to print darker, faster, sharper and with a higher degree of print durability. We worked hard to develop more versatile grades that can cover all applications for printing onto labels, card, medical papers and packaging films,’ said the company in a statement. ‘It really is a true drop in replacement grade for any OEM wax resin ribbon as used in industrial near edge printers and in-line TTO coders with no printer adjustments required.’

The company has also launched a new NEX10-X thin film version that compliments the NEX10 grade and is coated onto 4.0micron film, allowing for longer length ribbons as supplied by various OEM’s.

TTS has also upgraded the NEX11 white grade, which is now also able to print with a bolder white image with faster print speeds and more durability, suitable for printing batch numbers and best before dates on dark packaging.

The new UEX40 near edge resin offers improved print results onto a wide variety of label materials and packaging films at lower temperatures compared to other resin formulations allowing for a quicker transfer and higher printing speeds. It prints black dense images with a high level of print durability and is characterized with high abrasion resistance.
