Xeikon Durable Clear toner extends packaging shelf life

- Offers spot varnish characteristics inside the press

Xeikon demonstrated the potential of its Durable Clear digital dry toner to allow folding cartons to maintain shelf appeal long after printing.

 

A new edition to the Xeikon folding carton suite, Durable Clear was shown during the first day of Labelexpo Americas 2012, where Xeikon presented its digital printing solution suitable for a trio of packaging applications in the Package Printing Workshop.

 

Durable Clear is a dry toner that provides spot varnish characteristics inside the press. It is the first product to be able to do this, and act as a digital spot varnish.

 

Used in the fifth print station position, Durable Clear is applied after the image has been printed using CMYK dry toner.

 

Offering light fastness and indirect food contact regulation compliance, the Durable Clear product is the first dry toner to provide unvarnished areas for glue strips and imprinting inside the press.

 

This requirement is common when using spot varnishes to protect the print in other digital and conventional post-press environments.

 

Speaking during the Package Printing Workshop folding carton production session on the first day of Labelexpo Americas, Xeikon’s Filip Weymans said Durable Clear dry toner is a cost-effective and simple solution to protecting print and maintaining the shelf appeal of packaging once it has entered the retail environment.
