Omet, Italian manufacturer of narrow web press technology, has secured an order for the first of its new Varyflex lines from the major Finnish printing company Tarratuote OY.

According to Omet, the sale was made against strong competition, and significantly, will mark the first installation of a Varyflex press in Northern Europe.

The Varyflex on working demonstration at the Open House will have seven UV flexo print units, a 340 mm web width, and a cold foil facility especially for self adhesive work.

Designed specifically to serve the label market, Omet’s new Varyflex has a small footprint making it ideal for label converters where floorspace is at a premium. It features a new short web path on a lower press frame, which makes for easy operation and maintenance, and reduced levels of waste. Performance remains high, as on the traditional Varyflex models, with production flexibility guaranteed by its modular construction and inter-changeability of units.

Speaking for Omet, sales director Marco Calcagni commented: ‘We are delighted that the comparative print trials carried out by the customer proved our technology to be superior. To secure an order from such an important printer as Tarratuote, in a country where competition is very strong, proves the Varyflex has something special to offer the label market.’
