Omet launches rotogravure unit for Varyflex

Omet has launched a rotogravure printing unit for its 'flagship’ Varyflex press. Key target markets include China and the United States and European beauty and cosmetic sectors.

Omet’s rotogravure unit uses solvent-based metallic inks or laminating glue for applications such as cold seal, where inks or coatings can be applied in large volumes to obtain the high coating weights not possible with flexo.  Metallic-effect labels, for example with golds and silvers, can be produced with the dramatically lower costs compared to hot foil and with much higher speeds, says the company. Additionally, ink is only applied to the actual printed area required, whereas foil incurs an element of waste.

The unit can be easily inserted into the Varyflex machine at any position. It takes just one operator to move and install the module due to the simple design of the connection systems.
