Optimus has announced that development work for links with HP Indigo digital presses has gone ‘extremely well’ since Optimus became an HP JDF Alliance Partner earlier in 2006. Optimus and HP plan to launch a fully operational JDF link between the Optimus 2020 MIS system and HP JDF-enabled end-to-end workflows, as well as to other JDF partners in various configurations, later in the year. This will include web-to-print solutions such as Press-sense, workflow controller systems such as Objective Advantage and finishing equipment from leading manufacturers including Duplo and Horizon.

Henny van Esch, international director, Optimus commented: ‘We feel that for HP to choose Optimus as its first European MIS partner is a huge endorsement for the Optimus 2020 system and the people at our Woking, UK, headquarters. We’re delighted to be working with HP, a company that we consider to be a leading digital press supplier, and look forward to working with its customers in the future.’

Optimus has one of the largest global sales networks of any MIS supplier, with customers in many countries including Australia, Italy, Germany, Spain, Portugal, The Netherlands, Southern Africa and South America. The company has developed a comprehensive suite of modules, suitable for virtually every sector of the industry, from commercial sheet-fed and web offset to digital, direct mail, labels and screen.  Software can be tailored to match individual requirements.

‘The ability to interface MIS technology with hybrid workflows is vital in today’s market and Optimus has been a pioneer in the development of JDF within the MIS environment and the digital print sector,’ said Friedhelm Hartmann, strategic marketing manager, Indigo division, HP. ‘As we work to deliver end-to-end solutions for our customers, they will benefit from greater automation, improved accuracy, turnaround and profitability, plus a closer working relationship with their customers.’
