FESPA has appointed Marcus Timson to the newly-created role of group commercial manager, reporting to exhibition director Frazer Chesterman.

The position involves communications and marketing for the FESPA event portfolio, as well as developing new commercial activities for the organization. Marcus is also tasked with exploring ways of enhancing support for FESPA’s member associations. In this context, he will work alongside FESPA projects manager Chris Smith to support FESPA associations with their efforts to help their member companies.

Marcus is a seasoned exhibition industry professional. Most recently, he held the position of event director of the Exhibiting Show, an event that celebrates the power of exhibitions. Consequently, he is passionate about the effectiveness of exhibitions and events as the best way for suppliers to engage with their industry, promote their organization, gain access to new ideas, meet new contacts and do business.

Marcus enthuses, ‘The success of FESPA’s recent exhibitions – including FESPA 2005 in Munich, FESPA WorldExpo India 2005 and FESPA Digital Printing World 2006 in Amsterdam – proves beyond question that, with an experienced and committed organizing team in place, exhibitions can truly deliver quality content for visitors and quality business opportunities for exhibitors. Over the last five years, FESPA has affirmed its position as a leading event organizer for the international graphic arts industry. Building on its long heritage in the screen and digital printing sectors, FESPA has evolved a growing portfolio of exhibitions and educational initiatives which are perfectly in tune with the business needs of vendors and visitors.

‘The fact that the role also allows me to contribute to the development and promotion of FESPA-led information-sharing and educational initiatives for screen and digital printers, deploying the revenue from these exhibitions, brings things full circle for me. The team at FESPA is driven by the strong conviction that the organization has a vital role to play in the future of the global screen printing and digital imaging communities, and I look forward to making a fresh and valuable contribution to this, starting with creating some great features and attractions for exhibitors and visitors at FESPA 2007 in Berlin.’
