Jet Technologies appoints label packaging specialist
Darren Currey joins ANZ supplier with 30 years of industry experience.
Jet Technologies has appointed Darren Currey to its print division, bringing more than 30 years of experience supporting Australian and New Zealand customers across the print, packaging and label industries.
Currey joins Jet Technologies following a career that has spanned some of the printing industry's most recognized suppliers and key market segments. Commencing at Spicers Paper in 1995, he spent more than two decades building expertise across commercial print, fiber packaging, flexible packaging and pressure-sensitive labels. As Spicers’ national narrow-web manager, he played a key role in establishing its pressure-sensitive label portfolio, introducing the business and its customers to a range of international supply partners that continue today.
Most recently, Currey spent seven years as APAC sales director for Innovia Films, specializing in flexible packaging, pressure-sensitive labels and unsupported BOPP films across Australia, New Zealand and the wider Asia-Pacific region.
Throughout his career, Darren has worked with organizations focused on building strong market positions in highly competitive industries. Through this experience, he has developed a deep understanding of how innovation, product quality and commercial partnerships can create meaningful differentiation and long-term success.
Jack Malki, director at Jet Technologies, said Currey's appointment further strengthens the company's capabilities in two important growth areas.
‘Darren brings a wealth of experience across pressure-sensitive labels and flexible packaging, along with a deep understanding of the challenges facing our customers,’ commented Malki. ‘His industry knowledge, technical expertise and customer-focused approach will be a valuable addition to the team as we continue to expand our offering and support customers across Australia and New Zealand.’
‘I've known Jack Malki and Jet Technologies for many years and have always found them to have a strong and reliable reputation throughout the market,’ added Currey. ‘The opportunity to join a dynamic company with a culture of doing things differently from the rest was something that really appealed to me. Jet Technologies has built a strong position across the industries it serves, and I'm excited to work with customers to identify opportunities, differentiate their offering to support long-term, sustainable growth.’
In his new role, Darren will help customers explore opportunities across the pressure-sensitive label and flexible packaging markets, particularly as more businesses look to diversify their capabilities and offerings.
‘Many label printers are exploring opportunities in flexible packaging in some form, while others are just beginning that journey,’ Currey said. ‘Having worked extensively across both sectors, I look forward to helping customers develop solutions that support their needs today and position them for the future.’
