Michelman continues Asia Pacific team expansion

Michelman, a developer of water-based barrier and functional coatings for flexible film packaging, has made further appointments and promotions within its Asian Chemical Specialties commercial team.

Shenglan Cheng has been hired as Michelman’s newest research chemist. Cheng’s work will be focused on Michelman’s chemical specialty products, and she will be based in the company’s Singapore R&D laboratory. Cheng’s primary responsibilities will be to develop new products for Michelman’s line of surface modifiers for the Asian market, and to support specific customer application requirements. She has extensive experience in the areas of emulsification, polymerization and product scale-up, as well as specific applications experience with adhesives, leather and paint.

Linus Yoong, also based out of the company’s Singapore office, has been promoted to regional sales manager. Yoong’s new responsibilities will include managing growth and sustainability initiatives in the region, as well as directing territory managers and sales assistants. Yoong has almost two decades of experience in the chemical industry and was most recently a new business development manager at Michelman.

Janice Ng has been hired as a new territory manager in the region, and will work closely with Linus Yoong. Ng has over 10 years of experience in chemical sales and customer management, with a focus on construction chemicals, plastics, polymers and coatings. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Organic Chemistry from the University of Melbourne.
