According to the official Gold Medal Award Citation, David’s contribution to the paper industry has stood out as ‘an exemplar to present and future generations of industry entrepreneurs, and through his innovation, enterprise, hard work and passion for industry, David has provided the perfect demonstration of how British paper industry engineering can succeed in very challenging circumstances.’

John Brazier, chief executive of Picon and who nominated David for the award added, ‘This is the first time in the 30 year history of the Paper Industry Gold Medal, that it has been awarded to a representative from a smaller sized engineering company and clearly demonstrates the impact and contribution that such manufacturing companies can and indeed do make to our industry.’
