Plastic Suppliers receives the TLMI environmental leadership award

Plastic Suppliers, Inc. has announced it has won the Tag and Label Manufacturers Institute (TLMI) Environmental Leadership – Innovative Technology Award for the manufacturing of EarthFirst PLA film. TLMI established this award three years ago to recognize the leadership efforts of its member companies that have demonstrated their commitment to good environmental practices.

‘Plastic Suppliers would like to thank the TLMI Environmental committee for honoring us with this award,’ a spokesman said. EarthFirst PLA film utilizes NatureWorks PLA resin from NatureWorks LLC. This unique film is compostable, made from the annually renewable resource, corn, instead of petrochemical based resins. Plastic Suppliers use their patent pending process to manufacture this innovative film. Corn-based films are not entirely new to the plastics industry; however, no other company has successfully manufactured a PLA film using blown film technologies.
