Gary Nelson Potter, 58, a professor at Bridgemont Community Technical College, passed away on March 21, 2010 at his home in Elkview, West Virginia, USA.

A graduate of Girard College, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, West Virginia Tech and Marshall University, he worked for 25 years in the printing and graphic arts industries, latterly as a professor, leading and mentoring young adults at Bridgemont Community Technical College in Montgomery, West Virginia.

Potter spent many years as an advocate of flexography, supporting the growth and development of young flexo students and operators. Along with committing time to the FTA (Flexographic Technical Association), he was a strong supporter of the Phoenix Challenge Foundation (PCF) in furthering education in flexography. Through his generous donation of time and materials for printing of the Phoenix Challenge bi-annual newsletter, his efforts were instrumental in spreading the word and building awareness of the now ten-year-old high school flexo competition.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Potter, and brother, Bruce Potter. A memorial service will be held at 4pm on May 29 at Institute Church of Nazarene, Dunbar, West Virginia.
