Pro Label Day a success in North Carolina
Growth was the common message as Raflatac and UPM Rafsec welcomed guests to Pro Label Day on November 10, 2005 to celebrate the North American expansion of both businesses. The day proved to be a success in providing valuable information to label converters and marking the inauguration of new coating and RFID production facilities in North Carolina.
‘With our new production and distribution assets we’re sending our customers a message. And that message is that were not just investing in our own future, we’re also investing in theirs. We’re Pro Label and pro customer,’ said Jouko Lhepelto, senior vice president, Raflatac Americas as he welcomed around 300 guests to Pro Label Day together with president of Raflatac Inc., Dan O’Connell. The day’s events took place at the historic Grove Park Inn Resort in Asheville and the Raflatac facility in Fletcher, NC.
Heikki Pikkarainen, president of UPM labelstock business, and Jussi Pesonen, president and CEO of UPM, outlined the Group’s continued commitment to develop production and distribution networks for the North American market.
‘Raflatac and UPM Rafsec are UPM’s growth businesses,’ said Jussi Pesonen. ‘UPM has invested heavily in their development during this last year, especially in North America and China. With the backing of UPM, these two businesses will be in the driver’s seat as the future is defined for the entire labelstock and RFID-based tag and inlay business.’
Complementing the speakers from Raflatac and UPM Rafsec were representatives from Procter & Gamble, HP and the technology market research and consulting firm Venture Development Corporation.
