R and V Group offers ruggedized RFID labels
The R and V Group, an Omron-certified label manufacturer of engineered, smart RFID labels, offers a ‘100 per cent performance and delivery guarantee for ruggedized, reliable RFID labels at a competitive per-label price of 19 cents for a smaller, 50,000 piece order,’ according to a company statement.
Officials at the label converter say the guaranteed performance and delivery offer, coupled with the lower order amount and per-unit price enables users to enter a risk-free pilot program for inserting RFID technology and real-time product tracking capabilities within the supply chain.
‘The converter industry suffers from significant quality issues with RFID label inlays that simply aren’t rugged enough or robust enough to avoid failures somewhere along the supply chain,’ said Steve Van Fleet, R and V Group president. ‘We have dealt with incoming RFID inlays with failure rates of 40 percent or more.’
He added that the focus must change from buying low cost inlays that perform poorly to achieving an attractive total cost of ownership for finished labels.
‘Producing RFID labels when you know that 30 to 40 per cent or even 10 per cent of their inlays will fail is a little like eating empty calories. You are going through the motions but there isn’t any value. We and our clients appreciate Omron RFID’s inlay performance and overall reliability. We have taken our clients from a poor situation to one where every label works every time and therefore we are introducing these 100 percent guarantees.’
Bill Arnold, chief strategist at Omron, says his firm ‘is pleased to be the supplier of high-reliability RFID inlays to R and V Group. We have seen for ourselves the high levels of investment and expertise this certified label converter brings to its manufacturing processes.
‘This offer, which combines a small volume commitment with guaranteed performance, promises to expedite the compliance process for both experienced RFID users and companies just beginning to test RFID.’
The immediate delivery guarantee is based on order acknowledgement for Gen 1 products. Omron will also be offering C1G2 (Gen 2) RFID inlays while continuing to support Gen 1 products.
