ScanSource Europe has added Tropos Networks, provider of metro-scale wireless mesh network systems, to its line-up of best-of-breed vendor partners. Tropos products, including its MetroMesh wireless architecture, will be made available to ScanSource Europe’s reseller network across Europe.

The patented Tropos MetroMesh architecture couples superior radios with the software required to scale metro Wi-Fi networks from campus or city wide to nationwide footprints, creating affordable capacity and maximizing return on investment, according to a statement. MetroMesh also provides the software tools required for centralized visibility, analysis and control of highly dispersed networks, minimizing operating expenses.

As well as delivering residential broadband access, MetroMesh networks support mission-critical broadband applications in mobile public safety environments, such as mobile database access, video surveillance, and GIS inquiries. They also allow new in-field applications for municipalities and enterprises such as automated meter reading and automated vehicle tracking.

‘We’re delighted to be able to offer Tropos Networks products to our reseller customer base,’ said Xavier Cartiaux, managing director, ScanSource Europe. ‘With Tropos hardware, ScanSource Europe has the opportunity to provide a specific offering to certain resellers, allowing them to expand the solutions and the range of applications they offer.’

‘Tropos MetroMesh architecture enables a plethora of applications,’ said John Shelnutt, vice president of worldwide sales, Tropos Networks. ‘It is incredibly important for us to work through distribution partners that add value to our offering and ScanSource Europe’s range of value added services certainly meets our needs. ScanSource stocks Tropos inventory in Europe, can ship anywhere in Europe within two business days and can provide our resellers with flexible financing as well as other beneficial tools.’
