Screen launches its first digital flexo platesetter
At IPEX 06 Screen expanded its range of market leading platesetters with the addition of its first platesetter for the flexo market - the PlateRite FX870.
The Screen PlateRite FX870 is a thermal CTP system capable of imaging digital flexo plates up to 870 x 735mm and has been developed to support wide range of flexo applications including labels, flexible packaging, corrugated, carton and security printing.
This new platesetter incorporates Screen's thermal laser technology to image advanced digital DuPont Cyrel and Asahikasei flexo plates. Imaging at a choice of 2400 or 2,540 dpi resolutions with screen rulings up to 200 lpi, the PlateRite FX870 produces consistently high quality plates.
The PlateRite FX870 is compatible with Screen's specially developed packaging workflow PackStudio SE. PackStudio SE is based on Artwork Systems ArtPro software and is being integrated into Screen's established Trueflow workflow. In addition, the PlateRite FX870 can be integrated with any other PDF-based workflow.
The PlateRite FX870 has been developed to the same high standards of design and engineering that has made Screen a leading manufacturer of plate imaging devices. Screen now provides the widest range of 2-36 page platesetters for the broadest range of applications, including: commercial, newspaper, label and packaging applications.
’We are committed to providing a wide range of imaging, workflow and peripheral solutions specially developed for the packaging market. This expanding sector is under pressure to deliver high quality and consistent results, for short runs, at speed and cost effectively and we are perfectly positioned to provide them,’ said Brian Forsdike, President, Screen Europe. ‘The PlateRite FX870 is just the first in a series of developments which we will announce over the next few months.’
Following its debut at IPEX 06 the PlateRite FX870 will be commercially available worldwide from September this year.
