Pasqui Srl has ordered the first of the new servo-driven Mark Andy XP5000 flexo lines to be sold in Italy. The deal, struck by Pietro Alfano of Mark Andy’s local distributor Franchini & C Srl, will see the 430 mm (17”), 8-color press installed at Pasqui’s production plant at Perugia in Umbria, central Italy in January 2006.

The order for the new XP5000 was formally signed at Labelexpo Europe 2005, where the press was making its European debut, and was secured against strong competition from Nilpeter and GiDue. Mr Giuseppe Pasqui said: ‘We have had positive experience with Mark Andy technology in the past, and were looking for more than just a distributor – we needed to build a partnership with a company that could steer us through a series of specialized projects. Of all the companies we spoke to, Franchini offered the most cost effective solutions.’

The new Mark Andy press will be used for producing high quality technical labels printed on a range of materials, including clear substrates, which Pasqui sees as a major source of revenue in Italy. The company currently employs 120 staff on three separate sites working a mix of double and triple shifts.  In addition to the Mark Andy XP5000, Franchini has also sold Pasqui one of the new Serigon 350 servo driven screen presses, which also made its debut at Labelexpo in Brussels.
