Shanghai Universities unite for RFID development
Twelve Shanghai universities and companies have established the city’s first alliance to develop RFID labels to fight piracy, monitor merchandise and managing hazardous chemicals.
Chen Kehong, deputy director of the Shanghai Science and Technological Commission told a news conference: ‘Developing the technology is crucial for the city’s overall logistics development.’
The technology will be used on all fireworks and bottled dangerous materials, as well as to label the health status of local livestock. Future uses also include proving the authenticity of audio and video products and drugs, and verifying pet health and assisting parking management.
Organizations who have already adopted the technology include Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai Fudan University and Shanghai Huashen Intelligent Card System Development Company Ltd.
