Shore to Shore scoops ethical award
Shore To Shore LACAR, which is located in Guatemala, has been awarded a ‘worldwide responsible apparel production’ (WRAP) certification. WRAP is based on a company’s commitment and leadership in socially responsible global manufacturing practices. The certification is valid for 12 months and contingent on passing any unannounced inspections.
WRAP is an independent, non-profit corporation that is dedicated to the promotion and certification of lawful, humane and ethical manufacturing throughout the world. It has many organizations that are involved in promoting its principals to countries that export a large amount of apparel goods products. The certification board is comprised of a majority of non-apparel industry related individuals. This procedure allows the certification to be as unbiased as possible. Certified companies agree to operate under a set of standards that deal with issues ranging from health and safety, child labor, discrimination and customs compliance.
Manager of the Guatemala operation, Charles Safieh states, ‘All of us at Shore To Shore LACAR are proud to receive this certification for our efforts of raising the standard of apparel manufacturing. This certification represents our commitment to the apparel industry in Guatemala and stands as an example for the rest of the CBI countries.’
Shore To Shore’s corporate headquarters are in Ohio, USA and its product lines include woven labels, printed fabric labels, graphic hangtags, barcode price tickets, integrated hangtags, pocket flashers, joker tags, adhesive labels, sizer strips, carton labels, and other custom apparel identification products.
