Smart Labels summit goes global

Following on from the success of the first Smart Label Summit in Baltimore, Tarsus Labels division has announced two Summits in Europe and North America next year. The Smart Label Summit Americas will take place at the Intercontinental Hotel, Miami 27-28 June 2006, and The Smart Label Summit Europe between 14-16 November 2006 at the Okura Hotel, Amsterdam.

The high level of demand for the Smart Label Masterclasses at the Baltimore event has also led to a roll out alongside the Labelexpo shows and Label Summits, beginning with a Smart Label Masterclass at Labelexpo Europe 2005, taking place 21-24 September 2005, Brussels.
Smart Labels USA 2005 attracted 420 delegates, 43 speakers, and 42 exhibitors.  There was standing room only in the conference sessions where delegates learned about RFID and smart label technology, and how it can be implemented in business.  Exhibitors included Alien Technology, Avery Dennison RFID Division, Brady Corporation, Cabot Printable Electronics & Displays, CCL Label, Conductive Inkjet Technology, Creo Traceless Security, Brand Authentication & ID Systems, HP Indigo Hyperlabel Technologies, Infratab, Omron Corporation, and UPM Rafsec.
In addition to the main conference and exhibition, a series of Masterclasses were held before and after the event, with smaller groups tackling practical issues in extra detail.  The ‘How to’ manufacture smart labels session, presented by Mike Fairley and a panel of industry experts, and designed specifically for label converters looking to establish RFID manufacturing capabilities, was particularly popular, selling out within days of being announced.  A second duplicate session had to be arranged which was also completely sold out – in the end over 90 people attended the Masterclass.
Roger Pellow, Labelexpo managing director, said, ‘We are very pleased with the success of Smart Labels USA 2005, especially the incredible level of interest there was in our ‘How To’ Masterclass and in the excellent feedback we have had from exhibitors and delegates alike.  It is clear that RFID, smart labels, and the issues surrounding it are the hottest topic there is in the labels industry at the moment and that there is a call for further events of this kind.  We are already looking forward to the next two Smart Label events in Europe and America, and to holding further Smart Label Masterclasses across the globe alongside our Labelexpo shows and Summits.’
