Smyth wins Premier Print Award
Smyth Companies, Inc. of St. Paul, Minnesota, has been awarded a 2005 Premier Print Award, for outstanding achievement in the production of flexographic printing. The graphic arts printing competition hosted by PIA/GATF, the Premier Print Awards, recognizes those responsible for the creation and production of outstanding print communications. Smyth won a Certificate of Merit for its Killian’s Irish Red St. Patrick’s Day label. Competing against more than 5,200 entries from printing and graphic arts firms around the world, the judges gave Smyth technical excellence in each category of the competition.
“It’s an honor to be recognized by the industry as a company that produces top quality, award-winning materials.” said Bill Weernink, EVP of Smyth’s roll-fed business operations. “We employed a variety of processes and techniques for this project, and it is the type of label we are known for; high-quality flexo printing and integration of a package-centered promotion.”
Michael Makin, president and CEO of PIA/GATF, said, “Each year, the field of entries brings impressive work from some of the best printers in the world. Only a small number of companies receive any award. The craftsmanship and hard work of Smyth enabled them to produce an award winning piece in the face of some very stiff competition.”
