Sokymat SA, supplier of RFID transponders, announced that it has acquired IMASYS, a German supplier of RFID inlay manufacturing equipment based in Pfronten, which joined the Sokymat Group effective November 1st, 2005.

IMASYS is a designer and manufacturer of high frequency (HF) transponder inlay production machines based on the wire-embedding process. IMASYS’ current goal is to significantly increase the production capacity of its 13.56 MHz RFID inlay manufacturing machines, in order to respond to the tremendous growth of the markets for e-passports and contactless payment cards.

‘The scope of the acquisition is to extend the potential of our renowned machine engineering excellence center in order to further enhance service to our transponder facilities globally,’ commented Marc Bielmann, CTO of the Sokymat Group.

‘The IMASYS team, consisting of highly specialized and competent designers with over 10 years of experience in wire embedding technology, will develop and build automated inlay manufacturing equipment for various HF RFID applications,’ continued Ulrich Lang, CEO of IMASYS.

Following this acquisition, Sokymat will be able to offer 13.56 MHz RFID inlays manufactured with a comprehensive range of production technologies, including its own patented transfer wire, standard winding and reinforced wire embedding techniques.
