Soma expands sales and manufacturing operation
Lanskroun, Czech Republic-based Soma Engineering has significantly expanded its sales and manufacturing operation with the addition of two, purpose dedicated buildings totaling 1250 square meters (13,456 sq. ft.)
The first phase of the development was the addition of a second floor to the company’s existing headquarters to house sales, marketing and after-sales departments and brings together the design, sales and service managers under one roof. Included in this expansion phase is a dedicated conference hall to enhance interaction with suppliers, customers and the media.
The second expansion phase, anticipated to greatly enhance productivity is the addition of a new assembly hall with logistics system. Jaromir Satanek, technical and production director at SOMA, said: ’The new assembly hall includes an innovative logistics system that will streamline our manufacturing and assembly operation. Both projects are seen as necessary components for Soma’s planned program of continued sustained growth based on the development, production and sales of its flexible packaging and converting equipment.’
Reflecting on the company’s history, marketing manager Petr Blasko added: ‘Since the company’s privatization in 1992 SOMA has been undergoing constant reconstruction, both internally and externally in order to handle the growing demand for its products. We have now arrived at a point in time that will further enhance our service to the industry. Looking back on facilities dating from the 1930’s, the company has undergone dramatic changes that are a reflection of its dynamic international growth.’
Located in Lanskroun, Czech Republic SOMA engineering manufactures high quality printing and converting machines for the flexible packaging industry. Its portfolio encompasses CI flexographic printing presses, slitter/rewinders, laminators, mounter/proofers, sheeters, die cutters and special purpose machines. The company serves an international market with representation and distribution channels in Central and Eastern Europe, Turkey, USA, Canada and South America.
