South China label industry goes global
Label Summit South China will take place from 29-30 November 2006 in Guanghzou, one of the main Chinese printing hubs. This is the first major conference to attract prominent international experts to South China, providing a practical educational platform for the area’s label printers to tap into and benefit from the latest global developments. The summit, a high-level conference and tabletop exhibition, will help the local industry to shape their future strategies and open up even further to international business.
Experts from China and other large label markets will share their expertise on the future industry trends, innovation in the Chinese label market, developments in RFID/smart labels, advances in digital printing and new anti-counterfeiting processes, to name a few. Practical case studies from brand owners, international debates and panel sessions will also feature prominently.
Highlights on the conference program include a keynote presentation by Haixiang Shen, chairman & executive director of Kodak Graphics, who will discuss the prospects for growth and innovation in the Chinese label market. A case study on using RFID to improve customer service and increase security at Hong Kong’s international airport will be presented by Y F Wong, head of technical services and procurement at The Hong Kong Airport Authority. Junqiao Tan, advisor at the Printing and Printing Equipment Industries Association of China (PEIAC) will give a detailed overview of the labeling and product decoration market.
Roger Pellow, Labelexpo managing director, said: ‘The Chinese market has a great hunger for education, particularly in the more advanced technologies of label production, making this conference very important for key industry decision-makers and strategists. We’re committed to helping the industry learn more about how to benefit from the exciting developments taking place in China. Our summits and publishing arm really do provide practical educational tools to help local markets.’
The 2006 event is set against a backdrop of rapid growth in the area with the Guangdong province being home to over 15,000 printing-related enterprises, employing almost half a million people. The province accounts for 20 per cent of China’s overall printing industry - a figure set to grow further with the government’s increasing commitment to making it an international printing center.
Exhibitors showcasing their latest innovations at the event include: Avery Dennison, Mark Andy, Gallus, Nilpeter, Omet, Exxon Mobil, HP, Gidue, UPM Raflatac, Rotometrics International, Gerhardt and IST Metz, to name a few.
Label Summit South China is supported by key regional label associations including: The China Academy of Printing Technology (CAPT), The Printing Technology Association of China (PTAC), The Printing and Printing Equipment Industries Association of China (PEIAC) and the Shenzhen Association of Anti-counterfeiting.
