Specialty Blades purchases Ceramic Technologies

Specialty Blades, Inc. (Staunton, VA) has agreed to purchase the blade business from Ceramic Technologies (Houston, TX).  Jeff Epstein, Founder and President of Ceramic technologies stated that, “for the past 15 years, Ceramic Technologies has been dedicated to providing innovative coated industrial razor blades to the plastic film industries.  Specialty Blades shares that spirit of innovation.  Combining the two companies’ product lines will create the most complete offering on the market.  Customers will be able to optimize blade selection for each of their applications through one supplier, creating convenience and process performance.”
Going forward, the Ceramic Technologies coated steel blades will be sold under the Optima brand name. Current Ceramic Technologies customers will receive the same quality product and dedication to service that they have in the past.  Additionally, they will also have the support and expertise of Specialty Blades—a company dedicated for the past 20 years to designing and manufacturing high quality cutting blades for many varied markets.
Specialty Blades will continue to develop and to optimize the performance and durability of film slitting blades for the plastic film markets so that these customers can realize less downtime, less scrap, and improved film quality.
