STIC’IMAGE expands with the VIVA420 from Codimag

STIC’IMAGE, a label printer from the Lyon area in France, has just installed the Codimag last generation press, a VIVA420 5 colors letterpress and flexo varnish.

Being a Codimag customer since 1999 with a few letterpress VIVA340s, STIC’IMAGE decided to go for the VIVA420. ‘We questioned Codimag a few years ago about the extension of the VIVA340 concept to a VIVA420. This request was the result of our on going attempt to meet our customers and the market expectations. With the VIVA420 we can increase our productivity with larger width and longer repeat along with new technologies like servo motors,’ said Michel Journois from STIC’IMAGE.

In fact, with a 420mm (16.5“) width and a 457mm (18”) maximum repeat in intermittent, the VIVA420 is an economical answer to long run. A widespread use of servo technology on all printing units allows reaching optimal quality with increased flexibility. Extended automatic and remote control features, like register or ink density adjustment from the central touch panel, allows a user friendly press operation. On top of this the VIVA420 benefits the advantage of the intermittent technology for short make ready without cylinder changes depending on format. Developed first as letterpress, this version was preferred by STIC’IMAGE. ‘The letterpress printing technology is well adapted to our main markets. Letterpress can compete easily with offset for a lower investment, even if the impression on textured material remains a limitation.

‘We are efficient with the VIVA340 on short and medium runs. However, we reached limits on long run usually run in Flexo. Today with the VIVA420, we can compete against flexo with letterpress and develop new markets using the same well known printing technology.’

The VIVA420 comes as a complement of the VIVA340 and reinforces STIC’IMAGE production tools allowing the company to attack at the same time short, medium and long run using their knowledge in letterpress.
