Flexcon expands UL Adoption Program

Flexcon has expanded its Underwriters Laboratory (UL) Adoption Program, having received UL-recognition for a variety of inks from leading manufacturers, eliminating the need for converters to test their inks on Flexcon substrates for UL-recognition. Inks have been tested and approved on substrates currently within the Thermlfilm Nexgen line with additional product lines to be tested in the near future.
The company has tested a variety of inks from major ink manufacturers, including Actega WIT, Sun Chemical, Flint Group and Nazdar, for durability per UL’s PGJI2 designation on Flexcon’s UL-recognized substrates. Temperature ratings have been assigned for black, blue, red and yellow with each of seven different overlaminating options. When converters adopt any of these Flexcon substrates, the inks can be included in the product adoption at no additional cost. This decreases the converters’ cost of adoption because they don’t have to test their inks independently.
‘For years Flexcon has been committed to helping converters streamline the process of achieving UL label recognition to fulfill industry and consumer-safety standards while reducing time and costs,’ said John Bennett, vice president of Flexcon’s product identification business team. ‘The expansion of our UL Adoption Program is a continuation of these efforts and a testament to Flexcon’s customer-centric approach. As part of our UL Adoption Program, we have done the legwork to offer converters more UL-recognized options of industry leading inks that are compatible with our substrates, incurring the cost so our customers don’t have to.’
