UPM making plans in the Middle East

- Exhibited for the first time at Gulf Print & Pack 2013
- Has worked in the Middle East for around 25 years
The Middle East is a strategic market for substrate supplier UPM Raflatac, with Gulf Print & Pack providing the company with the opportunity to meet and greet existing and new customers.
UPM exhibited at Gulf Print & Pack for the first time in 2013, and Cem Karabayir, the company’s area sales manager for the Middle East and East Africa, said it is looking to the region as a route to growth.
It has worked in the Middle East in one form or another for around a quarter of a century, but he said the company’s Istanbul office is now working to nurture customers in the Middle East and East Africa, offering service and support to them. Turkey itself is also a thriving market, comparable in size to the whole of the Middle East, he said.
Karabayir added that nurturing the region is an important part of the strategy for growth, as there is a large need for education and information from local printers and converters.
He added: ‘We’re working on developing these markets for the future, with plans and projects being developed.’
