Texas Instruments Radio Frequency Identification (TI-RFid(tm)) Systems has joined the newly formed Hardware Action Group (HAG) of EPCglobal, Inc., the technical action group responsible for developing RFID technology standards.   TI was one of the first companies to join EPCglobal after its formation in October 2003 as a non-profit joint venture of the standards organizations EAN International and the Uniform Code Council Inc.

EPCglobal is overseeing the development of the Electronic Product Code(EPC) standard designed to enable enhanced visibility of information about products moving through the retail supply chain. As a member of the EPCglobal's Hardware Action Group, Texas Instruments RFid Systems is supporting the development and rapid ratification of a global, interoperable EPC standard using ultra-high frequency (UHF) RFID technology.

Global retailer Wal-Mart and many other retailers in the UK and Europe are endorsing the new EPC RFID standard for pallet and case-level tagging.
