Third Gidue for Superior Labels
AB Graphic International Ltd has confirmed the supply of a third Gidue press to Superior Labels Ltd, Boston, UK. Adding to the previously installed eight and six color Combat presses, the new Combat 370, equipped with four UV flexo printing heads will meet growing demand for the company’s labels in the food, beverage and industrial markets.
In business for over fifteen years, Superior Labels began with just one printing press and one plain label converting machine, the company has grown from a small factory unit to a purpose built factory.
Vince Reid, production director, said: ‘In addition to the obvious compatibility of tooling, we were very impressed with the productivity and ease of use of the first two Gidue presses, the decision to purchase a third was straightforward. The user-friendly design of the print heads means make-ready tasks are very much operator assisted. Both management and operational personnel have been impressed with the ability of the Combat presses to hold excellent register even at high speeds.’
Tony Bell, sales manager of AB Graphics International, commented: ‘Substrates that can be processed on the Combat presses include film, paper, plastic and board. Important to the decision to add a third Combat press is that maintains consistent performance at any speed and in all operational configurations. Independent drives are utilized at both printing and die cutting stations. The unique geometry of the Gidue Flower print head means that changeovers are fast and easily carried out. Gidue designed the print head with input from printers in the field which means it is truly operator inspired. The standardized use of heavy duty steel double side frames also contributes to the longevity and stability of the Combat presses.’
