TLMI Eugene Singer Awards given to best managed converters
Four converter member companies of the Tag & Label Manufacturers Institute were awarded the prestigious TLMI Eugene Singer "Best Managed Company Award" at the institute's recent 2005 converter meeting, held in Los Cabos, Mexico.
The "Best Managed Company" award is given annually, in four categories, based on annual sales volume. Those honored this year included Stixon Labels, Albuquerque, NM; Taylor Made Labels, Lake Oswego, OR; Consolidated Label Co., Longwood, FL; and Belmark, Inc., DePere, WI.
Stixon Labels was honored for the first time in the “small company” category.
“Winning the Eugene Singer Award is a great honor for us,” said Stixon President Beverly Chavez. “We are a family-owned, minority business and are proud to be recognized among our peers for our hard work and accomplishments.
Taylor Made Labels was honored in the “mid-range” category. The company first won this award in 1998. Taylor Made Labels was founded in 1982 and has grown to 72 employees.
“It is truly an honor to be selected as a Singer Award winner,” said Paul Taylor, President of Taylor Made Labels. “The Singer Award is a great benchmark for our industry, and our team is very proud to be recognized. We are extremely proud of our group of great people at Taylor Made and acknowledge their commitment to our customers.”
Consolidated Label was honored for the third consecutive year, this year in the “medium” category.
“Winning the Singer Award for the third consecutive year makes our employees very proud,” said Joel Carmany, President of Consolidated Label. “We celebrated our 20th anniversary in the label business in 2004, and it is quite rewarding for all of our long-term employees that we have achieved this level of success.
“As always, we keep working harder and smarter to provide high-quality products and services to our nationwide customer base. This has allowed us to chart significant sales growth over the last three years in the markets we serve.”
Finally, Belmark was honored in the “large company” category. The company is a seven-time winner of the Eugene Singer Award.
“The TLMI Singer Award is very special,” said Bruce Bell, Belmark Chairman and Founder. “I have such respect for the membership that any time we can equal or exceed performance levels in the industry, it is a fine accomplishment. I’m happy for our employees, vendors, and our customers, all of whom made this possible.”
These awards recognize excellence in business management, measured by defined business ratios calculated through the TLMI Management Ratio Study. Competing for the award encourages TLMI members to incorporate new and innovative methods of improving productivity and efficiency in order to increase financial return to the company.
