All Printing Resources has announced two free back-to-back technology seminars on digital platemaking and considerations for getting the most out of printing with digital plates: Digital Flexo Unraveled: Considerations for Getting the Most from Manufacturing & Printing Digital Flexo Plates.


Day 1 is designed for printers or tradeshops who are not currently manufacturing digital plates but are considering doing so. Day 2 is for anyone either currently printing with or considering printing with digital plates. Both seminars are designed to give the participants the information they need to make educated decisions and maximize any investment in digital plate technology. Some of the topics to be covered include:


Day 1
• Considerations to determine if digital is right for you ‘now’, which option may best suit your needs and current options for manufacturing digital plates
• How best to structure a digital plate trial or a digital workflow demonstration;
• What are some of the ‘hidden’ costs that you need to consider when looking at digital plate making
• How to work with your trade shop to implement digital plates for your production process
• Suggestions for implementing digital plate-making in-house – should you bring everything internally or break it down into phases
• How best to transition analog films to a digital format
• Expectations when bringing digital plate-making and pre-press in-house.


Day 2
• Reasons to consider digital plates other than finer dots or improved screening and contrast
• A review of what is new in proofing as it relates to a digital workflow
• Which stickybacks are best for printing with digital plates?
• Considerations for handling, storing, and cleaning digital plates
• The best way to set up an ink delivery system for getting the most out of digital plates
• Considerations for the pressman when printing with digital plates
• Measuring devices that will help optimize and control your process


The first two seminars will be held in Elmhurst, Illinois, USA, on June 5-6 at the Spring Hills Suites-Marriott Hotel (near Chicago's O'Hare Airport). Seats will be limited to 20 participants per session. Additional seminars in different cities will be announced soon.
