Venture capital group offers funds for label entrepreneurs
A new venture capital company for the labeling and packaging industry has been formed by Allan Willett, previously owner of the Willett International coding and marking business, which was sold for 50M two years ago.
Allan Willet Associates (AWA) is not directly involved in the packaging, labelling and coding industries, but will see Allan Willett using his in-depth knowledge of the sector to help others develop new ideas within the packaging sector.
In a statement, the company said, 'AWA will provide venture capital for today’s entrepreneurs, in other words those now in the position in which Allan found himself 40 years ago, when he had what he thought was a good
idea but little financial backing.'
Companies within the Willett organisation have been responsible for developing many new technologies including the first microprocessor controlled labeller and the first ink jet printer for case coding. Willett companies were also amongst the first into to enter many overseas markets, spotting the potential of places such as China, Russia and
Eastern Europe long before the barriers came down and they became attractive to others. The company established sales offices in 32 countries and manufacturing facilities in England, the USA, China and Brazil.
