Wacker raises prices for silicones

Wacker, the Munich-based chemical company, is raising its prices for silicone products worldwide effective October 1, 2008. Prices will rise by up to ten percent or more, depending on the product family.

The reason for this step is the continued increase in raw-material, energy and logistics costs. ‘We’ve certainly been trying to absorb these additional costs by boosting our efficiency and productivity,’ said Dr Christoph von Plotho, president of the Wacker Silicones division. ‘However, energy and key raw-material prices have meanwhile risen so high that we simply can no longer compensate for additional costs this way.’
