On October 8, 2009, the management of Werner Kammann Maschinenfabrik applied for legal insolvency proceedings to be commenced. Hans-Peter Burghardt, a solicitor and resident of Herford, was appointed preliminary insolvency practitioner.

With approximately 260 employees, the company develops and manufactures machinery for the printing of hollow objects (glass, plastic), optical discs (CD, DVD, Blue-Ray), and materials produced in ribbon form (e.g. labels).

Together with the preliminary insolvency practitioner, the company’s management is ‘keen on a solution that offers a continuation of the business, possibly through the sale of the business to an external third party’, according to a statement.
