Xaar inkjet technology to power EFI-Jetrion label presses
Xaar and EFI-Jetrion have announced an agreement whereby Xaar's 1001 piezoelectric printheads will be supplied for use in EFI-Jetrion's 4000 Series full color UV label printers. First shown last autumn at Labelexpo Europe, the Jetrion 4000 Series of UV inkjet printers bring narrow web converters a full-color alternative to toner-based printers. Available in web widths of 5.5" (139 mm) or 8.3" (210 mm), the printer uses 8 or 12 Xaar 1001 heads.
Dr Kenneth Stack, vice president and general manager of EFI-Jetrion, said: ‘We chose the Xaar 1001 head because we needed a printhead that offered the high reliability required for web applications. With Xaar's dynamically variable drop size capability, the Xaar 1001 means EFI Jetrion's 4000 Series can take full advantage of Jetrion's industry leading ink technology and EFI's Fiery XF color management solutions.’
Chris Lynn, VP sales & marketing of Xaar's US subsidiary company, added: ‘We're delighted to formalize our long-standing relationship with EFI-Jetrion through this agreement, and excited about the growing prospects for use of our inkjet technology in narrow web digital printing. By controlling all aspects of the printing process, from colour correction to ink formulation, EFI-Jetrion has achieved stunning image quality that is sure to accelerate market demand for these digital solutions.’
As part of this agreement, Xaar are qualifying EFI-Jetrion's range of UV inks for use with the Xaar 1001 printhead to ensure that a functional, integrated solution is delivered to the market.
Xaar-enabled Jetrion 4000 digital label printers are available immediately for early customer shipments and are expected to be available in production quantities by 2nd Quarter.
