DataLase, one of the global leaders in photonic printing, has been acquired by Bergman & Beving AB, which has taken a 90 percent shareholding in the business while CEO Clare Lewis retains 10 percent and continues in her role.

Based in Widnes, Cheshire, DataLase provides patented, inkless (at point of packing) and customized printing for product and packaging applications worldwide. The company's photonic printing technology enables high-quality, high-speed and sustainable printing directly onto a wide range of materials without the need for traditional inks, resulting in a cleaner, more efficient and environmentally friendly process that meets the growing market demand for sustainable printing and packaging.

Bergman & Beving, founded in 1906, is listed on Nasdaq Stockholm. The group comprises around 40 companies, represented in more than 25 countries, employing approximately 1,400 people worldwide. Its business model focuses on long-term ownership and supporting autonomous, entrepreneurial companies with strong growth potential.

As part of the acquisition, DataLase will join Bergman & Beving's Safety Technology division, becoming part of a group that has been acquiring and developing leading niche industrial companies for over a century.

Wise has acquired the business forms assets of Apex Color effective October 13, 2025, while Lewis Color has purchased the commercial printing assets, splitting the Georgia-based company's operations between two buyers.

The acquisition complements Wise's existing business in forms, labels and digital printing, adding Apex Color's customer base to its portfolio.

'We are incredibly pleased to add Apex Color's business forms customers to the Wise family,' stated Bill Prettyman, CEO and president of Wise. 'We look forward to serving and taking care of Apex Color's customers. Wise will enhance the product and service offering to Apex Color customers with additional capabilities.'

Beyond business forms, Apex Color customers will gain access to Wise's expanded portfolio, including prime and industrial labels across both medium-run and short-run applications. The addition enables customers to streamline their print procurement while accessing a broader range of high-quality, durable and compliant labeling offerings.

Lewis Color, based in Statesboro, Georgia, has acquired Apex Color's commercial printing assets in a separate transaction. The Alpharetta, Georgia-based acquirer serves customers across business forms, labels and digital printing markets.

Excelitas has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Luxium Solutions, one of the industry leaders in high-performance materials, substrates, components and assemblies headquartered in Hiram, Ohio.

The acquisition represents the seventh completed transaction by Excelitas since 2017, following the Noblelight acquisition in January 2024. The deal would expand the advanced technology provider's offerings across life sciences, advanced industrial, next-generation semiconductor and avionics sectors while enhancing its technical leadership through the addition of a robust patent portfolio and deep engineering expertise.

'Luxium brings a highly differentiated asset of scale with a strong reputation for technical excellence and customer trust to Excelitas,' stated Ron Keating, CEO of Excelitas. 'Luxium aligns with our strategy to increase our presence in targeted high-growth end markets, while also enhancing our capabilities in advanced optical technologies.'

Upon closing, Luxium will join Excelitas' advanced industrial segment. The Ohio-based company has undergone systematic transformation under SK Capital and Edgewater Capital, acquiring PLX and Inrad Optics, expanding its footprint in India and streamlining operations.

Conics specializes in partnering with customers to assist the selection and implementation of graphical software and bridges gaps with custom development and integration services.

Hybrid Software CEO Mike Rottenborn stated: ‘Our strategy has always been to build from our core competency of high-end graphical software for labels and packaging, then strengthen that with targeted acquisitions of complementary technologies. With the addition of Conics, we strengthen our position in project management and consultancy. Their experience in successfully delivering complex projects is a perfect complement to our existing expertise and is increasingly requested by printers and brands.

In addition, Conics’ expertise in AI and in particular its products are a perfect fit with Hybrid's own offering for labels and packaging.

Labelink has acquired L'Empreinte, one of Quebec's largest privately owned printing companies, marking the 15th acquisition in 21 years as the North American printer expands its capabilities into folding cartons, cut-sheet labels, direct mail and publishing.

The acquisition adds L'Empreinte's 110 employees and expertise in publishing, marketing, direct mail, folding cartons and cut-sheet labels to Labelink's existing strengths in pressure-sensitive labels, shrink sleeves and flexible packaging. Founded in 1986 and based in Laval, L'Empreinte has built a strong reputation for quality print and packaging products.

'L'Empreinte has long stood out for its creativity and the quality of its work. Its values of innovation, rigor and attention to detail align perfectly with ours,' explained Stéphen Bouchard, president of Labelink. 'We are proud to welcome this talented team and the exceptional know-how it brings. The deal forms part of Labelink's strategy to build a network of specialized printing and packaging centers. Luc Janson, shareholder and cofounder of L'Empreinte, emphasized the benefits of remaining under Quebec ownership.
