With personalized feedback updated every 5 seconds, operators can rapidly enhance their proficiency, making full use of machine automation features like job memory and auto-registration.

Konica Minolta Business Solutions USA has launched its latest embellishment press.

The JETvarnish 3D Web 400, a 100 percent web-fed digital embellishment machine, integrates spot UV coating, hot foil stamping and variable data printing in a single pass. The new finishing device is the only single-pass spot-UV and hot foil embellishment reel-to-reel system available in the market.

'Konica Minolta was ahead of its time in this space when it launched digital embellishment years ago. We now offer a full lineup of embellishment devices to produce attention-getting materials that also raise profit margins,' said Frank Mallozzi, president, IPP, Konica Minolta. 'The fact that embellishments can be created at a production level of one is also impressive, and makes experimenting and testing creative concepts easier and more affordable, all because digital production significantly reduces labor and setup costs.'

Tailored for the needs of the self-adhesive label and flexible packaging sectors, the JETvarnish 3D Web 400 enables converters and printers to reduce customers’ time-to-market while transforming the impact of their labels and packaging on the shelf in full compliance with their environmental strategies. The new model is print process agnostic, with the ability to embellish offset, flexo, toner and almost any print method.

The JETvarnish 3D Web 400 meets short-, medium- and long-run requirements by enhancing printed production with digital spot UV varnish and hot foil stamping in fixed or variable data, flat or embossed, facilitating multi-runs and versioning. It can also be optionally equipped with a flexo unit and a semi-rotary die cutter, which will be available shortly after launch.

The DuraCore produces full-bleed CMYK color for sheet-fed, web-fed, simplex and duplex printing across various applications.

Sunil Gupta, chief executive officer of Memjet, said: ‘We’ve listened to the market and come back with a printing solution that strikes at the core needs of our OEM partners: to deliver outstanding quality and reliability at a cost base that supports strong ROI. DuraCore is a versatile technology that combines precision with profitability.’

DuraCore offers OEMs and print providers a print engine that offers an attractive capital investment profile and total cost of ownership. It can be retrofitted into existing systems for maximum versatility and ROI.

Jason Thelander, chief technology officer at Memjet, added: ‘We’ve engineered DuraCore to provide OEMs with a robust, economical print engine that delivers the hallmark Memjet print quality. We’ve equipped it with advanced features like intelligent print head control, precise ink delivery systems, and optimized print algorithms to maximize productivity and minimize waste.’

The new technology is available as a 1x1 print engine, which contains one high-performance, 12.77in Thunderbolt printhead or a Tandem print engine housing two Thunderbolt printheads for increased speed.

DuraCore Tandem can reach speeds of up to 450 ft/min (137 m/min). Each printhead can jet 150 or 240 liters of ink, and nozzle redundancy varies from 2x to 4x redundancy per color for enhanced performance.

DuraCore supports a digital front end for easy integration into existing systems. Compatibility with a configurable Xitron RIP and Navigator controller allows for streamlined interaction between the print engine and all aspects of the printing process.

‘Sophisticated data processing is essential to high-end print solutions,’ said Thelander. ‘DuraCore’s is customized to fit the Navigator controller, which provides seamless integration, reducing development costs and expediting commercialization.’

DuraCore is engineered with the ModBus architecture that enables OEMs to design and configure new printing systems without extensive R&D. The print engine is easily reconfigured to serve multiple applications, markets, and price points, providing unparalleled flexibility for OEMs.

DuraCore is suitable for high-quality printing across various applications, including books, manuals, promotional materials, envelopes, direct mail, transactional and security printing, identification, commercial printing, and packaging applications such as labels and folding cartons.
