St. Luc invests in Grafotronic’s DCL 550

St. Luc Labels & Packaging, a Belgian manufacturer of labels with manufacturing plants across the Benelux region and Northern France, has announced purchasing two of Grafotronic’s innovative DCL 550 machines. The purchase marks a significant milestone for Grafotronic’s Benelux subsidiary which opened for business earlier this summer.

Machines will be installed at St Luc's Roosendaal plants at the Netherlands. Both machines are equipped with automated features.

Additionally, after vising Grafotronic booth at Labelexpo Europe, St. Luc has decided to further invest in one of the machines on display at the event – the CF finishing line, featuring the Grafotronic IQ automation suite. The unique Grafotronic IQ automation feature enables the Grafotronic machine to independently perform job changes and handles all job settings automatically. Basically, it acts as a virtual operator. Grafotronic IQ works with a set of cameras that monitor the web and automatically adjust what’s needed.

Managing director Niko Dhondt concluded: ‘With more and more digital stand-alone printing machines, we needed to expand our capacity in off-line finishing. Digital labels and flexibles are a fast-growing market. Grafotronic offers new technologies and visions for increasing speed and efficiency in the finishing process of digital printed labels. Together with my team we decided to invest in this new technology. The IQ reduces start-up time dramatically. So, we hope the new collaboration with Grafotronic will be a big success.’

Femalabel invests in Grafotronic's innovation

Belgium-based label converter Femalabel, signs a purchase order for a fully modular Grafotronic digital finishing machine. It is a DCL2 350 with sophisticated lamination in register capabilities.

Femalabel, specializing in printing multi-layer labels, believes the newly ordered Grafotronic machine will meet their needs for increased label production capacity at maximum efficiency.

The deal came through at Labelexpo Europe 2023. The owner of Femalabel, Wim Feys, was impressed by the performance of Grafotronic’s multi-layer label technology which was operational on the show floor at Grafotronic’s booth. The installation will take place later this year.

Grafotronic is a Swedish-Polish company founded in 2004. Grafotronic serves customers worldwide and have delivered more than 1300 machines to customers in over 60 countries. The company has more than 200 people, mostly working in the modern factory in central Warsaw or in the Grafotronic demo and service centers in the U.S., Italy, the U.K., the Netherlands, and Thailand.

The sale of two Brotech finishing systems have been announced at Labelexpo Europe by the company’s India distributor Weldon Celloplast.

A Brotech CDF 420 has been sold to Asean Pack in Ahemdabad. The machine is specified with a flexo print unit with both UV and hot air drying and cold foil. It is configured with full rotary and semi-rotary die cutting and vacuum suction conveyor and anti-static bar.

The second sale is a Brotech DL-420 to Chromaprint in Coimbatore. The machine is configured to run IML, wet glue labels and unsupported film labels.

Hotpack Global, an international leader in food packaging since 1995, has acquired an Omega SRI3 430 with monochrome inkjet from AB Graphic.

This move, aligning with Hotpack's robust global standards, is its second purchase of ABG equipment, having invested in an SRI in 2022.

The SRI3 430’s advanced features, including a die-cut unit and 4k camera inspection, enhance Hotpack's efficiency benchmarks. Trade print service provider, CMYKhub, will be the first in the Asia-Pacific to install AB Graphic International’s flagship DigiLase 4.0 / DigiJet 330 finishing solution, with delivery directly from Labelexpo Europe 2023.

After CMYKhub's recent expansion into labels, spurred by its investment in an HP Indigo 6K digital press, the company experienced significant customer demand, particularly for custom labels in short to medium runs.

Glen Francis, manager for customer experience and communications, emphasized the market's exponential growth for such labels. The new ABG technology, which integrates DigiJet 330 digital embellishment with DigiLase 4.0 digital laser cutting, offers a singular solution for diverse embellishments and finishes.

Notably, it enhances efficiency, quality, and flexibility, vital for CMYKhub's quick turnaround expectations. Glen noted that the choice was ‘backed by the recognized quality of ABG and the exemplary service from Currie Group.’

Pantec is presenting the new Cheetah N, a rotary embellishment system for applying 3D images to shrink sleeves using heat and pressure.

The customized 3D images are applied to the shrink sleeve by heat and pressure from a carrier film. The Cheetah N can apply up to 20 images per second. Also on display is the Rhino S, an embellishment system with a new RSD tool change system for improved machine uptime. This enables the time-consuming set-up process to be done outside the Rhino to increase machine up-time.

AB Graphic has unveiled its automation technology at Labelexpo Europe 2023.

ABG Connect is an automated workflow system that connects all stages of the print and finishing process into one automated workflow.

The finishing and converting equipment manufacturer also has a host of products on it stand, including those with advances in non-stop rewinding technology and a new turret rewinder model.

ABG also has introduced the Converter, a compact, fully modular high-speed converting line, incorporating an automated flexo coating station.

Additionally, the company will collaborate with HP on stand P100 to demonstrate its non-stop unwind and rewind system that is seamlessly integrated into the HP Indigo V12 line.

Cartes has unveiled six new machine configurations at Labelexpo Europe 2023.

Its GE363VJL digital finishing technology is a Jet DScreen (JDS) on the Gemini platform, combined with laser die cutting.

The GT360 series of Cartes is also a Jet D-Screen (JDS), that is integrated with flexo, traditional silk screen printing, hot stamping and semi-rotary die-cutting.

Its GE362WL+turret rewinder laser die-cutting machine comes with automatic job change, while the ILC laser cutter allows cutting of colored substrate without leaving white edges and can remove white borders from dark labels.

GE361L is an entry-level laser die-cutting and converting machine by Cartes. And, the GE364VHWR is equipped with hot stamping on the Gemini platform, along with two flexo stations and a semi-rotary die-cutting unit.

Cartes also was honored with a Global Label Award at a special gala hosted the first night of Labelexpo Europe. The award for Innovation Award for companies with up to 300 employees went to Cartes who impressed the judges with its fully automated end-to-end digital embellishment line, which integrates inkjet embellishment, digital metalization and laser die cutting modules.

The Distorun module is a material-saving cold transfer unit that enables single-image application.

Kurz subsidiary H + M shows effects for label finishing with its stamp technology. In addition, the latest products for brand protection are presented.

These include, for example, ValiGate from Scribos and various security solutions from TrustConcept.

At its booth, Kurz subsidiary MPrint is presenting the latest in digital printing technology. Also at a separate booth, Kurz is presenting a new service to produce thermal transfer ribbons not only in standard black, but to customer-specific special colors and security solutions.
