The role of lamination in label embellishments

A look at the types of lamination used in the label and packaging industry

Film lamination is the process of applying a clear film to a printed web using a dry or wet adhesive to secure the film to the surface of the printed substrate.

Clear film is used as a means of enhancing the printed image and providing surface protection to a label during transportation and handling. It also provides a degree of moisture resistance, particularly for 'under the sink' and personal care products (Figure 8.1).
