Established some 20 years ago, Bharat Photostat started as photostat business. Abhishek Nangia joined the family business in 2000. ‘Our core business was photostat which is why it is called Bharat Photostat. I did not change the name due to the legacy and goodwill of the company,’ he says.

The company started digital printing in 2002 with its first digital printer. The company provides short-run commercial print services including brochures, leaflets, posters, flex banners and flyers to walk-in customers, corporates and agencies. It is equipped with digital printers from Konica Minolta and Canon and houses post-press equipment including foiling, UV, binding and lamination.

‘We were printing labels in CMYK but with the new Ricoh we have added white and gold colors. This gives us a chance to offer new colors to our customers,’ Nangia says.

He adds that as new start-ups emerge in the market, the demand for short run labels has gone up especially in the cosmetics and pharma segments.

One of the reasons for choosing Ricoh was Monotech’s customer service, Nangia explains. ‘Before Monotech, we were facing issues in service. When Monotech reached out and informed us that they are now selling and servicing Ricoh, we felt really confident because of their success with digital print equipment. I trust Monotech.’

‘We provide our services seven days a week and wanted a service center that is close to our facility. It was not necessary but was a competitive edge for us. I have good personal relationships with Monotech Systems and I hope that the same trust and faith continues to prosper,’ he adds.

Nangia explains that the CMYK color quality and the opacity of white ink in the Ricoh press was better than the other options he had considered. The press is compatible with several media sizes and thickness to accommodates multiple sheet-fed applications.

Nangia indicates that he might opt for a second press from Monotech for roll-fed label printing.

‘We expect 100 percent growth with the new investment. Now we can print white underneath black. We could not print on dark and metallic sheets earlier, which will enhance our complete business offering. Another benefit of the machine is that we can print white+CMYK and CMYK+white in a single pass.’

The company provides its services across India. ‘I operate directly from this facility so that I can maintain a direct relationship with customers and I want to oversee all the operations.’

Nangia agrees that his business was impacted by the pandemic, but he has recovered 75 percent of it.

Gurvinder Singh, director of sales and marketing at Monotech Systems, adds: ‘We saw roaring success with digital print equipment earlier and we want to replicate the same success with Ricoh. In terms of infrastructure, we are fully equipped to handle that kind of pace. The market is growing and the Ricoh

Pro C7200X is a good machine to start labels. With this machine, Bharat Photostat could move onto a roll-fed machine. It is diversification and value addition for them.’
