MCC Drogheda named Flexographic Label Printer of the Year

Irish production plant recognized for its Finvara, The King’s Gambit label.

MCC Label production plant in Drogheda has been awarded the title of the Flexographic Label Printer of the Year during the 45th Irish Print Awards for its Finvara, The King’s Gambit label.

The Irish Print Awards sees the industry’s talents gathered to celebrate the achievements of their peers. With 30 categories judged by a panel of independent experts from across the sector, the awards underscore the creativity and resilience that define the print community in Ireland.

The label was printed using Flint Group Flexocure Force ink range and uses gold foil and a silkscreen varnish to raise the image. The raised silk screen was applied to bring the forest to life.

Initially an emboss was considered but, because of the intricate detail of the design it could not deliver the desired effect. It was then sealed with an overall coat of high scuff matt varnish. The text was then embossed using male and female emboss plates.

‘The team at MCC Drogheda is delighted with its win at the Irish Print Awards for Flexographic Label Printer of the Year. We are extremely proud of our work on the Finvara, The King’s Gambit label. Achieving the desired finish on the label was a challenging technical process and we feel the result is a worthy award winner,’ said Stuart Boyle, plant manager at MCC Label Drogheda.
