Domino hosts digital label event
UK converters gather at British Motor Museum for digital printing showcase.
Domino Printing Sciences has brought together converters, industry experts and partners from across the UK label sector at the British Motor Museum to explore the benefits of digital technology in label printing.
The event featured presentations, panel discussions and live equipment demonstrations from Domino and partners, including GS1 UK, Hybrid Software and Grafisk Maskinfabrik (GM). Attendees heard from Camilla Young, program lead at GS1 UK, on the transition to 2D codes in retail, with Young emphasizing that print quality is critical to the successful delivery of 2D QR codes at the point of sale.
Rob Lorkins, managing director at Labelnet and 2025 DLP Excellence with Hybrid Printing award winner, shared his experience adding digital printing to a flexo-focused business.
'Switching to digital with Domino transformed our business faster than I imagined,' said Lorkins. 'The ease of setup, combined with outstanding print performance and expert support, enabled us to shorten turnaround times, adapt quickly as a team, and unlock new market opportunities.'
A panel discussion covering the future of label printing touched on the rise of 2D codes, automation, AI and workforce development, with participants concluding that close collaboration between converters, suppliers and brand owners will be key to navigating industry change.
The event also featured live demonstrations of two new products: the Domino N410 LED digital label press, which delivers output at up to 600 DPI and print speeds of up to 50m/min, and the Domino K300 variable data printer, capable of applying GS1-compliant 2D codes at speeds of up to 250m/min.
