Actega invests in new production facility in China
This investment builds on a technology transfer initiative between Actega's global sealants hub, Actega Artística and Actega Foshan.
Actega has invested in a new production facility for sealants at its Foshan site in Guangdong province, China. This initiative will reinforce the company's regional manufacturing capabilities while ensuring customers across Asia benefit from locally manufactured products and a responsive supply chain.
The construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of September 2026. The new facility will enable Actega to bring its sealants closer to customers in the Asian region, which is home to one of the world's most dynamic metal packaging markets. By integrating local production, sales and technical service capabilities within a single regional hub, Actega will shorten delivery times, enhance responsiveness and elevate the standard of customer support. These improvements will deliver tangible, measurable added value to can makers where operational reliability and cost efficiency are non-negotiable.
The new production platform will manufacture both premium and standard sealant grades for food and beverage can applications, supporting can makers to achieve outstanding production yields. Customers will benefit not only from shorter supply chains and improved responsiveness but also from the ability to source sealants, compounds and coatings from a single trusted partner – backed by Actega's global expertise and innovation capabilities.
The company notes that this strategic step reinforces Actega's market position as a dedicated expert partner and is well placed to capture new growth opportunities as demand for advanced sealants continues to rise across Asia.
The new production platform in China is further embedded in Actega’s growing regional network, which also includes the recently opened office and application laboratory in Bangkok, Thailand, designed to strengthen technical service capabilities and customer support across Asia-Pacific.
As part of Actega's commitment to digitalization and process excellence, customers will also gain access to ROTARflow, the company's advanced digital technology for monitoring and managing sealant film weights. In this high-volume environment, ROTARflow enables greater process transparency, optimized material consumption and improved production consistency, helping can makers protect uptime and maximize operational efficiency at every stage of production.
'This investment demonstrates our ambition to bring global expertise closer to our customers and our long-term commitment to the Asian market – a region defined by dynamic growth, evolving consumer demands and an increasingly competitive metal packaging landscape,' said Dr Teresa Ramos, head of global market management, cans B&B, business line metal packaging solutions at Actega. 'By combining local production, technical service, digital technologies and a broad portfolio of packaging solutions, we are positioning ourselves precisely where our customers need us and creating real added value for regional can makers as they prepare for future growth.'
This strategic investment builds on a comprehensive technology transfer initiative launched last year between Actega's global sealants hub, Actega Artística in Spain and Actega Foshan. By integrating proven formulations, advanced production technologies and standardized global manufacturing processes, the new local platform ensures the consistent supply of sealants engineered specifically for regional market demands. It also marks the next step toward a global sealants production platform, following the successful establishment of production capabilities in Brazil and the US.
To complement this technological deployment, Actega has established rigorous training programs at its sites in China and Thailand. These initiatives are designed to build a highly specialized regional technical service team, empowering them to deliver advanced process optimization, maximize in-line efficiency and provide expert application support directly to customers.
Richard To, managing director of Actega Foshan, added: 'The new production platform represents an important milestone for our business in Asia. By manufacturing sealants locally and leveraging knowledge transferred from our global sealants hub, we can synchronize our capabilities with the fast-paced demands of the regional market.'
