Siegwerk publishes CSRD-aligned report

Ink supplier releases first sustainability report using European reporting standards.

Siegwerk has released its Sustainability Report 2025, its first sustainability report prepared with reference to the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) on which the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) is based, adopting the framework voluntarily to increase transparency before it is legally required to do so.

A central feature of the report is the ESRS-aligned double materiality assessment, which examines both how Siegwerk's activities affect people and the environment and how external sustainability-related developments may affect the business. It identified climate change, circular economy, pollution, workforce health and safety, and human rights in the value chain as the topics most material to the company. These findings provide a framework for prioritizing actions and measuring progress.

'The DMA gave us the opportunity to take a structured look at the sustainability topics that matter most to our business and stakeholders,' said Alina Marm, head of global sustainability at Siegwerk. 'At the same time, it confirmed that many of the areas we have already been focusing our efforts on will remain priorities going forward. Transparency and accountability are key factors for sustainable business success. With our new report, we not only provide our stakeholders with detailed insights into our performance and progress over the past year but also demonstrate how sustainability continues to be embedded in our long-term business strategy.'

Compared with the 2020 baseline, the company reduced Scope 1 greenhouse gas emissions by 26.5 percent and market-based Scope 2 emissions by 100 percent, supported by its commitment to sourcing 100 percent renewable electricity across its global operations. It also launched SustainUP, a supplier engagement program that received the EcoVadis Best Newcomer Award earlier this year, and achieved EcoVadis Gold status in 2025.

The report closes the HorizonNow 2025 strategy, under which Siegwerk achieved four of its six sustainability targets between 2021 and 2025 and exceeded the 50 percent achievement mark for the other two. It now serves as the baseline for HorizonNow 2030, the company's sustainability agenda for the next five years.
