Fedrigoni launches DS2 water-soluble adhesive

New clean-release adhesive targets food service, healthcare and laboratory label applications.

Fedrigoni Self-Adhesives North America has launched DS2, a clear-drying, water-soluble adhesive for label applications requiring complete removal without adhesive residue, designed for use with water-dissolvable facestocks in food service, healthcare, institutional and laboratory environments.

DS2 disperses in hot or cold water, allowing labels to remain functional during use and then wash away during cleaning, power washing or industrial dishwashing processes. The adhesive adheres to metal, HDPE and low-surface-energy plastic containers as well as smooth and lightly textured surfaces and can be paired with Fedrigoni's 47# Water Dissolvable Direct Thermal facestock, which dissolves completely when immersed.

Target applications include cafeteria and hospital tray labels, food preparation and expiration labels, produce tote identification and laboratory labeling, where containers require temporary identification before being cleaned and reused.

'DS2 was developed for applications where the label needs to perform during use, then wash away cleanly when the container is ready to be reused,' said Melissa Harton, marketing manager North America at Fedrigoni Self-Adhesives. 'By pairing a water-soluble adhesive with water-dissolvable facestocks, converters can support customers who need clean-release labels that leave no adhesive residue behind.'
