Short-run printed packaging; a supermarket odyssey – part 3
With 10 minutes to spare in Marks and Spencer (M&S) at the weekend, it was easy to find some patriotic packaging on the shelves.
M&S is a British institution, and with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the London Olympics highlights of summer 2012's festivities, I wasn't in the least bit surprised to find what I did.
From whole meals and accompaniments, to picnic food and desserts, an array of products have been given a new lick of paint with Union Flag covered carton and flexible packaging.

I'm due to head back to Morrisons tonight, and after England's, inevitable, penalty shootout defeat to Italy on Sunday evening, it'll be interesting to see what impact this has had on the shelf.
My photo blog through Twitter is the easiest way to see, but I'll be blogging about it here in the coming days.
Don’t forget you can help me collate a photo study of short-run printed packaging by taking your own photo, whether at home or out shopping, and post it on Twitter mentioning @D_Pittman_PPW and using #packageprinting.
I’m not only interested in special, themed packaging mind you, and anything that’s interesting, unique and a little different will grab my interest and be of a big help in showing the fluid dynamics of the global packaging industry.
And I'm happy to see and hear examples from all over the world, so keep your eyes open for exciting packaging whenever and wherever you are.
