Ametiq appoints new president

La Asociación Mexicana de Etiqueteros, or Ametiq (the Mexican Association of Label Companies), has appointed Fabian Silva of Mexico City-based converter Etiquetas Anro as its new president. Silva replaces Jesus Ramirez Ruiz, general director of Eticom, a label converter based in Mexico City.

‘It is an honor to have been elected president of Ametiq, which brings a great opportunity to lead efforts that will benefit Mexico via the label industry,’ said Fabian Silva. ‘With the active participation of all our members, we will help to develop the flexo industry in which we all participate.’

Silva praised the two-year tenure of previous president, Jesus Ramirez, citing his efforts in founding the association; growing its membership; organizing a joint conference event alongside fellow Mexican association Acoban during Labelexpo Americas in Chicago last year; organizing the association’s recent congress, which received 170 attendees; involving Ametiq with the global group of label associations, the L9; and forming a partnership with the Fidel Velazquez University to create a dedicated flexography training course.

Ametiq was created in April 2010 by six national label converters: Coflemex, Eticom, Etiflash de México, La Etiqueta Fina, Lobo Impresores and Etiquetas Anro.
