KBA (UK) has named Gary Molloy as a print performance specialist as its moves to support customers throughout the lifetime of their presses

KBA (UK) has created a print performance department, in which former Butler & Tanner employee Molloy will work along with Colin Porter, senior print performance specialist. Further, the appointment follows KBA (UK)’s decision to add its full support to the BPIF ISO 12647 color quality management certification scheme.

Molloy will ensure customers are achieving the best possible press performance to deliver the greatest achievable return on investment.

At Butler & Tanner, Molloy was a machine minder where he served his apprenticeship on five Crabtree single color perfector presses. He then moved on to MAN Roland 800, 7B size presses when the operation invested in four-color book production. The four MAN Roland 800’s presses were replaced by KBA Rapida 162a presses, making Butler & Tanner KBA’s largest installation of large format presses in Europe.

Molloy operated every KBA press during his time at Butler & Tanner, from a KBA Rapida 162a – a four color 2/2 perfector press – to a KBA Rapida 162a – an eight color 4/4 perfector.

‘I understand that many different factors need to be taken into account to get the best results and am delighted to be able to use my experience and knowledge to ensure KBA customers improve their press performance and produce high quality print sheet after sheet,’ Molloy said.
